Altcoin

Any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin (alternative coin).

The term "altcoin" covers all cryptocurrencies that appeared after Bitcoin: Ethereum, Solana, XRP and thousands of others. Altcoins can differ in consensus algorithm, speed, functionality (smart contracts) and purpose.

Memecoin
A cryptocurrency created on the wave of an internet meme or hype, with no fundamental value (DOGE, SHIB, PEPE).

A digital asset issued on top of an existing blockchain (for example, ERC-20 on Ethereum), without its own network.
