Proof-of-Stake (PoS)

A consensus algorithm where the right to confirm blocks depends on the amount of staked coins rather than on computation.

In Proof-of-Stake, validators lock up coins as collateral. The larger the stake, the higher the chance of confirming a block and receiving a reward. PoS is more energy-efficient than PoW; Ethereum switched to it in 2022.
